Question 1

What is 10 East?

Accepted Answer

10 East is a private markets investment platform for sophisticated investors, institutions, and select wealth managers who want repeatable access to differentiated, rigorously vetted opportunities that seldom surface in traditional channels.
Robust deal flow. Our deep network of operators, investment partners, and specialists sources off-the-run transactions typically hard to access elsewhere.
Institutional diligence. Every opportunity is underwritten through a multilayered process refined by our team over 14 years of underwriting private market investments.
True alignment. Our founder and our partners commit meaningful personal capital to the portfolio, and we seek to negotiate preferred terms that are passed on to our investors.
Hands-on oversight. A dedicated private markets team tracks performance, issues timely reporting, and stays on call for investment or tax questions.
The result: differentiated exposure, disciplined underwriting, and the transparency investors need to build portfolios targeting asymmetric, risk-adjusted returns.
Additionally, investors access invite-only events, thought-leadership pieces, and curated peer exchanges that deepen insight beyond pure returns.

Question 2

Who founded 10 East?

Accepted Answer

10 East was founded by Michael J. Leffell, former Co-Head of Distressed Investing at Davidson Kempner, where he guided multi-billion dollar strategies across market cycles for more than two decades. Michael chairs 10 East's Investment Committee and invests substantial personal capital alongside investors, reinforcing the platform's culture of ownership, transparency, and shared success.
Originally launched as Michael's family office, 10 East has grown into an institutional-caliber platform that now serves select institutions and high-net-worth investors - while retaining the founder-led discipline and long-term perspective that defined its roots.

Question 3

What makes 10 East different?

Accepted Answer

10 East is purpose-built to solve the three pain points sophisticated investors cite most often — deal access, alignment, and administrative drag — while layering on advantages that are hard to replicate at scale.
Most platforms: Market products that sponsors pay them to sell to individuals
10 East delivers: Conviction-led sourcing. We begin with themes where we have deep conviction — then activate a deep network of operators, investment partners, and advisers to surface off-the-run transactions that satisfy stringent criteria: defined catalysts, downside protection, and asymmetric return potential.
Most platforms: Provide “access” but leave you chasing wires, K-1s, and status updates
10 East delivers: Concierge execution. Each deal sits in its own vehicle enhancing operational simplicity. We handle capital‑call logistics, banking, K‑1s, and consolidated reporting.
Most platforms: Push volume to grow AUM
10 East delivers: Curated, high-conviction flow. Roughly 15–25 ideas a year pass our multilayered diligence funnel.
Most platforms: Separate investment origination and oversight teams
10 East delivers: One accountable team from start to finish. The professionals who source and underwrite a transaction are also responsible for monitoring it to exit, and are available to our investors over the life of the deal.
Most platforms: Pitch technology as the differentiator
10 East delivers: Expertise over code. Our portal allows for technology facilitated subscriptions and has quarterly updates available for each offering, but the real edge is our expertise in navigating a portfolio of private market investments over market cycles.
Most platforms: Offer only fund structures
10 East delivers: Choose your path. Invest deal-by-deal or — soon — via a diversified vehicle.
Bottom line: 10 East pairs family-office alignment with institutional rigor and concierge-level service to give qualified investors efficient, differentiated, and conviction-backed exposure to private market deals — without the friction and conflicts that typically accompany them.
